Giants Live just announced their 505kg deadlift challenge. Anyone who's up to the challenge and thinks they have a chance at pulling this enormous amount of weight is welcomed to contact the organization and plead their case. If anyone is successful in the record-setting 505kg deadlift they will receive $55,000 as prize money. Learn more about the challenge below.
What is Giants Live?
Giants Live is the official World's Strongest Man arena-based strongman tour that has been running since 1977. Giants Live tours the UK's biggest arenas, bringing the thrill of Strongman sport to tens of thousands of fans every year.
Giants Live 505kg Open Deadlift Challenge
For the first time in Giants Live history, it will be held at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales, WDC. On August 6, 2022, not only will Wales hold its first Giants Live, but it will also hold the World Deadlift Championship!
Eddie Hall was a legend during his Strongman career when he broke the mythical 500kg (1100lbs) deadlift barrier in 2016. Since then, strongmen around the world have been trying to push that bar heavier and heavier.
Don't forget the Icelandic actor and strongman Hafthor Bjornsson who was able to set the world record for deadlift when he lifted 1,104lb (501kg) at Thor's Power Gym in Iceland. This absolute behemoth of a man broke Eddie Hall's record by a mere two pounds. This feat has been untouched since 2020, when he accomplished the feat.
In 2021, the competition offered a similar prize, with participants being awarded $50,000 for a successful 505kg deadlift. Two men; Ivan Makarov and Pavlo Nakonechnyy, attempted to lockout 505kg (1,113lbs) but were unable to do so. Makarov won with a lift of 475kg, still 30kg away from the prize money.
So to up the ante, the organization announced today a $55,000 payout to any athlete who can deadlift 505kg successfully. This year, we think maybe someone will be able to hit that magical number and win that prize money.
How to enter the Giants Live 505kg Deadlift Challenge
If you're one of those monstrous people who think they can earn that prize money, the Giants Live organization is accepting emails at 505@giants-live.com, you must be able to tell them why they should give you the chance to prove yourself against the World's Strongest Men. Keep in mind though the wildcard invitations close on June 1, 2022.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
With Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson both preparing for their fight against each other later this month. These two won't be in the running to break the record or defend the title in Hafthor's case.
No athletes have been confirmed at this time, we are excited to see who will step up to break the 505kg wall and take home the $55,000 payday.
