Take QuizStrongman Robert Oberst AKA American Monster, took to his Youtube channel to discuss his plans for retirement after 2023 World’s Strongest Man. He also covered topics such as the potential rematch of Eddie Hall vs. Thor boxing match, Giants Live World's Strongest Nation, the new ranch he purchased, and the return of the tv series “Strongest man In History."
In the video Oberst posted to his Youtube channel, he covers a few big topics, but perhaps the biggest of them all was the announcement that he plans on retiring after the 2023 World’s Strongest Man competition. He said he plans to compete next year and then ride off into the sunset. Oberst has been sitting out of competitive strongman events since he injured his shoulder back in 2021.
Another topic that Oberst spoke about was the recap of his friend Eddie Hall losing against Thor in their boxing match. He mentioned Hall took the loss well and that there was a rematch clause in the contract but he thinks the two should move on.
Oberst also tells us that Eddie Hall is coming back to compete in strongman this November for the Giants Live competition, World's Strongest Nation, where Team UK, led by Hall, will take on Team USA, led by Oberst. Oberst went on to talk some trash, saying he would make it look like Thor vs. Hall part 2.
Oberst then goes on to speak about World’s Strongest Man and his plans on qualifying for 2023 and then retiring after the event. From there, Oberst speaks about the new ranch that he bought and his plans of starting a new YouTube channel that will feature life on the ranch instead of lifting or eating content. He says lifting videos are coming back to his channel as he’s deeper into his recovery and can lift some heavy weights.
Lastly, Oberst talks about the tv series “Strongest Man In History” is coming back. He spoke to a bunch of the big guys, and everyone from Nick Best to Brian Shaw to Eddie Hall is good to come back to the show. He said they’re going to put it together and to stay tuned for what’s to come.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
It was nice to see Robert talk about getting back into the swing of things after rehabbing his shoulder for so long. He dropped so many interesting pieces of information in this video and got us excited for the Giants Live event in November and the return of the tv series. However, we’re sad to hear him say that his time has come and that he will be retiring from the sport next year.
