Take QuizThe bodybuilding community has mourned the unexpected death of Bostin Loyd since tragedy struck back on February 25th, 2022. Dave Palumbo of RX Muscle recently revealed Bostin Loyd's cause of death. According to Palumbo, Loyd died as a result of an aortic dissection.
On February 25th, Bostin Loyd had returned to his Florida home after a session at the gym when he had passed out. Loyd was rushed to the hospital while paramedics attempted CPR, but he eventually was pronounced dead at the hospital. It was initially assumed that a heart attack was to blame for Loyd's death due to him battling stage 5 kidney failure.
However, it seems to be an aortic dissection that led to his untimely death. An aortic dissection is when the main artery to the heart splits, which then leads to internal bleeding and, in most cases, death.
Dave Palumbo is close friends with the Loyd family and was given the details of Bostin Loyd's autopsy which revealed the cause of death.
In his video on RX Muscle, Palumbo says's, "I don't think anyone would have ever suspected what the cause of death was. I know I was kind of blown away by it, and it goes back to genetics. I know people hate when I say that, but we're all victims of our genetics. Bostin Loyd died of a dissecting aorta. What that means is his aorta, which is the main artery that comes off the heart to provide blood to the body, which is the highest pressure artery in the body can sometimes split."
Palumbo also mentioned that Bostin Loyd's father, who was also a bodybuilder, had an enlarged aorta which he had surgically fixed. While genetics probably did play a role in Bostin Loyd's death, we can't ignore the fact that Loyd was notorious for using his body as a testing ground with all sorts of steroids, peptides, and other substances.
Bostin Loyd was never one to beat around the bush when it came to using PEDs which was a breath of fresh air in an industry that constantly lies about what goes on behind the scenes. His extreme experimentation with steroids and other PEDs has probably saved many lives in the process as he documented his trials and tribulations. He showed the bodybuilding world that more isn't necessarily better when it comes to using PEDs.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Bostin Loyd's passing was a reminder to us all that life is fleeting, and we should make the most of it while we're here. At the end of the day, a young man died way too early due to taking risks with substances combined with a genetic predisposition. We know one thing for sure, Bostin Loyd's death, was a big loss for the bodybuilding community.
