Take QuizFinally, we have a date set for the boxing match between Eddie "The Beast" Hall and Hafthor "The Mountain" Björnsson will take place on March 19th, 2022, at the Dubai Duty-Free Tennis Stadium in the UAE.
It's been a long time coming for fans to have a chance to watch the two former World's Strongest Men go head to head in the ring. The fight was initially slated for September of 2021 but was called off last minute due to a biceps injury that Hall suffered during a sparring session.
The two giants have been going back and forth with trash talk and wagers that have amped up this fight even more. It was Björnsson who challenged Hall to the boxing match in the beginning. Hall then challenged Björnsson to place a wager on their original fight that the loser would donate $100,000 to a charity that the winner chose. Then, Björnsson one-upped Hall saying that the two of them should donate $200,000 to charity each no matter the fight's outcome.
Not to be outdone, Hall then raised the bet saying he agreed to those terms but that the loser should throw in another $1 million on top of the $200,000 donation. This was when Björnsson declined to take the bet. The two settled on the $200,000 donation, plus the loser will have to get the winner's name tattooed on their body, a little reminiscent of Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley.
Björnsson hasn't wasted time since the first scheduled fight fell through. He now has 3 exhibition fights under his belt, with the most recent one ending with him winning by TKO in the first round against Devon Larratt, the arm wrestling great.
Hall didn't sit back and relax either, as we see him going hard in multiple training sessions that he shares on his social media. We recently posted Hall's full-body workout, where he worked on movements that should prove fruitful for the fight. Hall hasn't had any exhibition fights, so it will be interesting to see if this is a significant disadvantage compared to Björnsson, who now has ring experience.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
The two have slimmed down since their strongman days and are sporting lean physiques; they've both been training hard. The highly anticipated fight is just weeks away; grab your popcorn and get ready for hopefully what will be one of the best spectacles of 2022.
